TALKS DAY 1- Alumni

The first day of the talks section will highlight prestigious alumni from the five Romanian schools, such as Eliza Yokina (Cumulus Architecture/ Bucharest), Berlin based, FAUT alumna Oana Stănescu, London based, Iasi alumnus Radu Axinte (Heatherwick Studio), Cluj Napoca alumnus Adrian Pop (ADP), or Oradea alumnus Gabriel Chis Bulea (Vertical Studio). Presentations will focus on the festival theme, by showcasing each speaker’s sustainable transition from their school years towards excellence within the professional practice. 

OMA/AMO’s Reinier de Graaf,  the evening’s keynote speaker, will launch his latest book, Architect, Verb. The lecture will be followed by a book signing session.

TALKS DAY 2 –  Sustainable Futures

The second day of the talks section will be opened with a keynote speech by Professor Natalie Mossin, Head of the Institute at the Royal Danish Academy and the President of Congress for the UIA World Congress of Architects, 2023, “Sustainable Futures – Leave no one Behind”. This will be followed by a conversation between Madame Mossin and the Deans from Romania and the Euroregion, focused on the intersection between the sustainability goals set by UIA and the pedagogical methodologies needed in countering the speculative growth patterns visible in our part of Europe. After a mid-break, the argument will be further carried through by keynote speeches by Mass Design Group’s  senior principal, Christian Benimana and by Shanghai based architect Lyndon Neri (founder of Neri &Hu).

TALKS DAY 3 –  Leave No one Behind

The third day of the talks section will feature keynote speeches from the Director the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, Professor Walter Angonese, followed by Mendrisio professor Quintus Miller of Miller Maranta. The evening will be closed with a panel talk during which our two keynote speakers will give us their collective thoughts on the future of architectural education.

TALKS DAY 3 – Bright Cityscapes

The Bright Cityscapes lecture series will highlight studios and alternative pedagogies.The session is opened by Linz University’s Base Habitat studio. It will be followed by a lecture from Studio Muoto’s  Gilles Delalex and Georgi Stanishev on their radical French Pavilion at 2023 Venice Biennale. The segment will be closed by 2022’s Swiss Architecture Award laureate Xu Tiantian.
